To receive any of our podcasts on a regular basis, you can subscribe by using the subscribe links below. The podcast below was filmed at the North West Regional College in Northern Ireland in March 2009. The college has spent the last 12 months piloting their e-portfolio system, which is now being used for a range of qualifications. The e-assessment masterclass was attended by lecturers, administrative users, EVs, IVs, curriculum co-ordinators and senior management as well as some external providers keen to learn from the college experience. Queries relating to the system and its functions were addressed and staff were able to discuss the benefits of using an e-portfolio. Below are several extracts taken from the session. What is a Podcast?
Podcasting, a portmanteau of Apple’s “IPod” and “broadcasting”, is a method of publishing files to the Internet, allowing users to subscribe to a feed and receive new files automatically by subscription, usually at no cost. It first became popular in late 2004, used largely for audio files.
