About your e-portfolio

Learners will have secure log in and password unique to them which will access their e-portfolio.  Most systems allow the user to personalise their home page which will normally contain an overview of the qualification, message alerts and in some cases information from the particular learning provider.

The learner is able to review their progress, agree action plans, view particular documents and post evidence for assessment.

The e-portfolio allows learners to store evidence in a variety of formats using various forms of media.

Evidence is gathered using a variety of tools, these may include but is not limited to use of digital cameras, video and audio recording, webcams, online messaging, emails, mobile phones etc.  Evidence can be stored on the learner’s PC or other storage device and is then uploaded to the e-portfolio normally using a file browse function.

Most e-portfolios will allow the learner to provide a test description of the evidence.  The learner is then able to reference the evidence to the units/modules of their qualification and review it as necessary.

When ready for assessment, the function of the e-portfolio allows the learner to submit their evidence and the assessor/ moderator will receive an automatic alert.

I think the tool-kit is great!  How will this resource fit with the forthcoming changes to QCF etc?  I would also be interested to hear how staff training and initial costs are managed by smaller training organisations such as ourselves.  Certainly most learners should benefit from the tool-kit.

Thank you for your comment. We would be interested to hear from smaller training organisations as to how you have managed this process. You may be interested in reading our case study on Advice NI, a small independent training organisation. You will find this in the Resources section.

Thanks
