Ofqual is the new regulator of qualifications, exams and tests in England.  We also regulate National Vocational Qualifications in Northern Ireland.

Our work ensures that children, young people and adult learners get the results their work deserves, that standards are maintained and the qualifications learners receive count now and in the future.
Our work on e-assessment reflects this committment, and that regulatory arrangements encourage innovative methods of assessment without barriers to development. At the same time, assessments must continue to be fair and standards secure so that public confidence is sustained.

As a result of ongoing consultation with users of the efutures website and other key stakeholders, Ofqual have developed this online e-assessment toolkit.  In 2007 e-assessment: guide to effective practice was published by the 4-country qualifications regulators.  It covered 2 key aspects of e-assessment; the management and delivery of e-testing and the use of e-portfolios for assessment. The guide sets out the roles and responsibilities of those involved in the e-assessment process and presents a number of UK case studies.

This toolkit builds on the existing guide and is designed to provide practical guidance on e-assessment and its role and impact on e-assessment practitioners.

The toolkit is a prototype so as you use it, please tell us how useful it is by making use of the ratings tools and send us your comments and questions.
